Max Bailystock, a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer, lassoes his milquetoast accountant Leo Bloom into a scheme to produce the biggest flop possible, on the premise that they can make more money from overselling a bomb than parlaying a hit. The preposterous “Springtime of Hitler” seems to be just the “sure to flop” script they are looking for to make all their theatrical dreams come true.
