"What’s Your ‘Red Line'?" | Podcast Listen + Small Group Discussion | Braver Angels

Causes / Fundraisers
  Wednesday, April 03 03:00 PM - 05:00 PM

  Bent Paddle Brewing Co.

For our first participant interactive event we will be watching/listening to a 20 minute snippet from the Braver Angels Podcast hosted by Mónica Guzmán featuring her discussion with NYU professor and best-selling author Jonathan Haidt.

Afterward we will break into small groups of "Reds" and "Blues" and listen to each other’s reactions with the prompting of some prepared questions surrounding the main discussion of the podcast - “Is there something that does not deserve to be heard, is there a line that can’t be crossed, where it becomes wrong to engage with a person who holds a view that we oppose?”.  And as always the discussion will follow the Braver Angels Way outlined below.

This event is free and open to the public though alliance donations will be accepted.  Light refreshments will be provided and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from our host location sponsor Bent Paddle Brewing Co.

Though not required to participate in the event, we encourage attendees who are interested to watch/listen to the full hour long podcast in advance here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4qq25sA6BQ

THE BRAVER ANGELS WAY
www.braverangels.org/our-mission

We state our views freely and fully, without fear.
We treat people who disagree with us with honesty, dignity, and respect.
We welcome opportunities to engage those with whom we disagree.
We believe all of us have blind spots and none of us are not worth talking to.
We seek to disagree accurately, avoiding exaggeration and stereotypes.
We look for common ground where it exists and, if possible, find ways to work together.
